Tom had a mesmerising stage presence that the audience could not take their eyes off. With no predictable structure, he brought waves of laughter through shock, some props and great physicality.
It was Tom’s movements both grand and minute that showed his true skill as a performer. Tom was able to use a slight twitch of his mouth or a change in posture to draw huge laughs. The set-ups were very important in these situations, but Tom had orchestrated his set well to show off his strengths. One segment left the audience with more questions than answers as Tom quickly moved onto a different topic. This issue may have been better dealt with further so as to not feel so jarring. Though with Tom’s performance, this feeling may have been exactly what he was after.
‘Bee Boo’ was not for the faint-hearted and not the type of show I would typically pick to see. That said, Tom had such commitment to his ‘bits’ that I couldn’t help but enjoy it.
