‘I’m Here’ had an excellent opening, which drew the audience in immediately. The performers set the mood for what was to come, a mix of fun sketches and the occasional musical number as well as some ‘aww’ moments.
The Hit By a Blimp team have put together an original and relatable show that touches on issues that face most young adults. The focus on short sketches interlinked by an overarching theme meant that the evening flowed and did not feel stilted.
Jayden, Tiana and in particular Caitlyn brought great energy to their performance. This energy was exemplified in their musical numbers, which were creative and quite poignant. A particular highlight featured some unflattering but equally hilarious costumes that drew attention to the clever writing of the show.
Hit By a Blimp are a dynamic trio that each bring a unique element to the performance. While not every sketch was classically ‘perfect’, the performers appeared to relish being on stage together and were enjoyable to watch. ‘I’m Here’ was a memorable night and I look forward to seeing their next production.
The Hit By a Blimp gang have finished their 2017 Melbourne Fringe Festival run but you can follow them on Facebook and Twitter for details about upcoming gigs. You can also check out the performers in ‘Harold Night’ at The Improv Conspiracy every Thursday.
