The host for the evening and incredibly talented performer, Ali McGregor, guides the audience throughout the night. Ali McGregor seduces the audience with amazing songs, including an almost unbelievable medley, which is a personal favourite.
As the name suggests, it is the variety part of this show that keeps it fresh and keeps audiences coming back to it (in its eleventh year)! Ali McGregor’s network of friends and colleagues includes comedians, musicians and performers who have unimaginable talents.
On 31 March, Ali McGregor picked four acts to entertain the crowd: Gillian Cosgriff, Stuart Goldsmith, Captain Frodo and Joel Creasey.
- Gillian Cosgriff opened up the night with two great songs that combined comedy with genuine musical talent. Gillian is performing at the MICF in her show ‘8 Songs in 8 Weeks’, more details here. If you do see the show, look out for her take on going out for a night on the town, which was in contention for my favourite part of the evening.
- Stuart Goldsmith followed with a genuinely hilarious tight set, which suited the atmosphere of the room perfectly. I had never seen the UK comedian perform live before but would have no hesitation recommending him as a talented observational comedian with clear and precise delivery. Stuart’s show ‘Compared to What’ is also at the MICF, click here for more details.
- How do you describe Captain Frodo’s performance? I won’t spoil his act… but I could not look away!
- Joel Creasey finished off the night well with some behind the scenes revelations and a well-told story. His chemistry with Ali McGregor was particularly delightful! For more information on Joel’s MICF show ‘Poser’, click here for more details.
Ali McGregors’s Late-Nite Variety-Nite Night will turn a bad day around, and make a great day even better. I left with sore cheeks and a clear mind, which is an amazing feeling.
If you have never been to this show before (and even if you have), I highly recommend you check it out. Ali McGregors’s Late-Nite Variety-Nite Night is on at The Famous Spiegeltent (Arts Centre) on 2 April then 6 to 9 April 2017. For more information and to book tickets, click here.
