As Christian told the audience some entertaining stories from his life, he was proactive in getting them involved. Christian engaged with the crowd on multiple occasions and sought to compare their experiences with his own.
Through this engagement, Christian found some of his material resonated with sections of the crowd but missed the mark with others. At times, the humour felt a bit dated or insincere but this did not detract significantly from the experience. Christian interjected clever quips and anecdotes into his stories, which meant there were laughs regardless of whether you related to them or not.
When Christian was confident and didn’t feel the need to swear, the material felt stronger. This was particularly the case in the middle section of the show where Christian hit his stride with some well-drilled material.
‘Living the Dream’ was an entertaining night of bizarre stories from a bloke trying to make sense of it all.
