Gearard opened up the night with a naturally relatable disposition and delivery. While maybe suffering from a long festival, he told quality stories with a few quips thrown in! In the moments when he owned the stage, he brought solid laughs and was able to build good momentum.
Cait followed up Gearard’s strong start with an equally funny set but with a different style. With her deadpan delivery, she covered a few personal anecdotes and observations in a unique way. She was quite self-deprecating at times but did so in a way that showed her humility.
Both comedians have talent and brought lots of laughs, but their styles appeared to appeal to different audiences. Perhaps this was the drawback of ‘Mucho Relaxo Melbo’, that the styles of comedy (while great individually) did not necessarily complement one another in a cohesive split-show format.
With some clever writing and observations, there was a lot to like in Gearard and Cait’s performances. As they develop their strengths, they will continue to bring laughs!
